Alfalfa
Description:  A perennial legume that is deep rooted and long lived used for pasture and haying. It is best adapted to well drained soils with a pH. of 6.5 or above. Alfalfa is fine stemmed, winter hardy and drought tolerant. A very erect plant with many leafy stems arising from large crowns at the soil surface. Flowers are a shade of purple. Seeding rate of 15 to 20 pounds per acre.
