Canada Wildrye
Description:  A cool season native grass that prefers moist sites. This a perennial bunch type grass that has very good young seedling vigor and spring growth habits. Noted to establish very quickly and provides excellent ground cover in a timely fashion. Also some shade tolerance has been seen as well as its persistence in sandy soils. Seed head is a nodding spike that matures in July. Leaf blades are flat. Excellent companion in a prairie mixture. The seed heads are used in dried flower arrangements and look great. A seeding rate of 1 – 2 lbs per 1000 square feet.
