Description:  A very viney winter annual of short lived perennial with stems 2-4 feet in length. White, purple, or pale yellow flowers are born in clusters. Hairy vetch needs well drained soil, vetch is also known to tolerate soil acidity but have a relatively high phosphorous requirement. Does well in soils with lowfertility. Performs well as a green nitrogen source when plowed under. A great crop cover for wildflower and prairie grasses. Good also for a hay and pasture, noted to be a good "soil builder", erosion control and habitat component. Plant during September - October. Seeding rate of 20-25 lbs per acre.
