Illinois Bundleflower
Description:  American grasslands. Considered by some our most important native legume. Illinois Bundleflower is self fertile, native stands occur in open grounds, wooded areas, road sides and right of ways. Readily eaten by livestock contains 38% protein in the dry state. Unlike many prairie perennials it sets seed its first year of growth. It also produces a beautiful flower with in the same year. Readily sought after for its ability to fixate nitrogen in the soil to help develop our "domesticated prairies". Performs very well in the Midwest. A seeding rate of 6 - 10 pounds per acre.
