Japanese Millet
Japanese Millet
Description:
A course summer annual, and also a very fast grower, extremely high seed yields for consumption by waterfowl and upland game birds. Known for its attraction by Mallards, Pintales, Teals and other ducks as well as Quail, Geese, Pheasants and Doves. Growing 2 to 4 feet tall, needs to be planted in moist to flooded areas, can also persist on well drained soils. Once six inches in height the area can actually tolerate flooding to a depth of 12 to 18 inches. Plant around the outer edges of your waterways adjacent to your duck fields or areas. Will mature in 60 to 90 days depending upon climate. Fertilizing will greatly enhance seed production in your plot. Seeding rate of 25 to 35 lbs per acre. Spring planting after any chance of frost.
