Orchardgrass
Description:  A persistent long lived perennial bunchgrass that grows 2 to 3 feet tall. Orchardgrass is more shade tolerant than most grasses. The length of an average stand is 3 to 4 years. Forage quality is excellent under good management, responds very well to fertility. Extremely close grazing will weaken the stand over time, moderate stocking and rotational grazing works best. Orchardgrass is not real competitive so adapted legumes persist better in association with it. Grows well in moist soil textures, does not tolerate wet or poorly drained soil very well. Good seedling vigor and erosion control. Seeding rate of 5 to 6 lbs per acre.
