Reeds Canerygrass
Reeds Canerygrass
Description:
A long lived clumpy perennial with course rhizomes. It grows from 4 to 7 feet tall. Of ten used in pastures, haying, prairies. This is a very versatile grass and is also excellent for stabilizing waterways, healing and controlling gullies and protecting shorelines of ponds and reservoirs from wave action. It flowers from June to July. It grows best under cool, moist conditions, but is adapted to a wide variety of soil moisture conditions including nontidal marshes, stream banks, lake shores, moist woods and marshes. Known to furnish food and cover for puddling ducks, geese and upland game birds. Also creates a great site for nesting. Provides good cover for fry fish. Seeding rate of 12 to 14 pounds per acre.
